After my mammogram came back suspicious, I went for an ultrasound, where they saw something. They then sent me for a biopsy and that’s when they realized that I had lobular and ductal carcinoma in situ.

I had wonderful doctors, including my surgeon Dr. Joseph Contino and my radiation oncologists Dr. Raul Meoz and Dr. Michael Tay. The options they presented were either SAVI 5-day radiation or regular radiation and possibly chemo. I had never heard of SAVI but the doctors recommended it.

I loved that SAVI treatment was only one week. My husband and I took our vacations that week so we could just concentrate on going to and from the doctor’s office. I was exhausted and uncomfortable and I couldn’t wait for it to be over and for them to remove the catheter, but it was short and quick.

I would definitely recommend SAVI to a friend and tell everyone that the doctors, radiation technicians and nurses made it so easy. They were all wonderful.
