Treated with SAVI – February 2012
On December 12, 2011, I had my yearly mammogram. I received a call that they saw something concerning. The tumor was small, so no one could feel it. My local surgeon referred me to the excellent doctors at Community Breast Care in Indianapolis, where I had a wonderful team of doctors and nurses.
By the end of February, I had my radiation therapy with the SAVI applicator. I had heard so many horror stories about the surgery and radiation, but I feel very fortunate to be in the category of those who are eligible for SAVI and have a much less devastating experience. I know I am a survivor. I know I must be vigilant but I don’t feel I had to suffer greatly to survive.
Two and a half months later and my treatment is done! Although I still have to take the aromatase inhibitors, it seems like a small price to pay. Thank you, SAVI!
