In January of 2014, I had my ob/gyn appointment and my doctor didn’t feel anything. Fortunately, my cancer got picked up on my mammogram. I was diagnosed with High Grade DCIS in Feburary 2014. My surgeon mentioned the 5-day radiation with the SAVI device as an option instead of the normal 5 times a week for 6 weeks radiation option. I was so glad to find out I was a candidate for SAVI! Once I learned about the SAVI, and that I could do it, I didn’t need or want any other options; it seemed perfect for me.

My surgeon, Dr. Itzhak Shasah and my radiation oncologist, Dr. Eugene Shieh, were both fabulous. I adore them both! They highly recommended the SAVI because it targets the specific area within the breast and does not radiate the whole breast.

The reduced radiation time of SAVI and the fact that the treatment period was so much shorter were of course the biggest benefits for me. Since I had a diagnosis of triple negative breast cancer, it allowed me to get to my chemo faster.

I had absolutely zero side effects. No decreased energy, no discomfort. It was a cakewalk. I have already recommended it to friends of mine. I tell them, “If SAVI is an option for you, and you are blessed to have a treatment facility near you that offers it, go for it!”
