After my yearly mammogram I was called back to do a repeat because of a “suspicious spot” on the right breast. Following that, I had a needle biopsy and the result was DCIS. Was referred to a surgeon familiar with my condition and highly recommended by my general pracitioner.

My surgeon was Dr. Charles Iliya. My experience with my physicians was very good. They took a lot of time to talk with me and my husband and my daughter. The SAVI treatment was highly recommended but not pushed, which I appreciated. I needed time to review all I had heard and be able to make a decision that was right for me. I also spent time researching online all I could find out about the treatments. I could choose either the SAVI treatment or the standard radiation—and of course I chose SAVI.

I had never heard of this treatment but the length of time to complete the treatment was certainly the biggest benefit. Overall my experience during treatment was good. Because I had two surgeries prior to starting the treatments, my breast was very sore and though there really wasn’t any outright pain with the treatments themselves, there was a bit of discomfort. I did experience some low-energy days. It was important to me that the staff that worked with me was helpful, answering my many questions and kind and caring throughout the entire 5 days.
