My breast cancer was found during my yearly mammogram with the new 3-D digital equipment. The tumor was 1.3 cm, and my surgeon, Dr. Toni Storm-Dickerson at Compass Oncology, said all my testing showed I was a candidate for the SAVI device! I felt blessed that I qualified.

The surgery was easier than I expected, and the radiation process went smoothly, and quickly. I received my treatment at Rose Quarter Compass Oncology and the entire team there was awesome. The first day after my SAVI was inserted I felt uncomfortable, but by the next morning I felt fine. I never took any pain medication after my surgery because I didn’t want to be constipated. I was concerned about pain when the SAVI would be removed, but I actually didn’t have any pain, I only took regular Tylenol as that was the only time I took a pain medication ahead of time, and it worked!

Having the radiation exactly where it was needed was a real big plus to me. I am very grateful to have had the SAVI device, and wanted to return to a normal life as quickly as I could, with as little impact on my body as possible from unnecessary radiation to other parts of my body that didn’t need radiation. I am feeling very well and it has only been a couple weeks since I completed radiation!

I would love to hear from others that have any interest in the SAVI. I found it amazing!
